Our 2025 program has officially wrapped, and we’re thrilled to congratulate the nine remarkable founders who completed this year’s Smart Futures Lab Incubator and Accelerator. Each of these entrepreneurs brought forward innovative ideas, bold visions, and a commitment to building technologies that make a difference.
Watching them grow over the course of the program has been a privilege, and we can’t wait to see what they accomplish next.
Since its launch in 2022, Smart Futures Lab has grown far beyond its original scope. What began as a space to help startups scale and explore smart technologies has evolved into a broader platform for innovation, one that now includes sponsored research, technology testing on our private 5G network, and programming support for a range of municipal and industry partners.
With this expansion, the Lab is entering a new chapter. As our EDA funding comes to an end, we’ll be pausing the Incubator and Accelerator programs while we seek new partnerships and pathways to continue this important work. This transition gives us the opportunity to focus on advancing our other initiatives and to reflect on the impact the program has already made.
As our Director, Dan Griner, shared during our 2025 Graduation, “It’s important to remember the ideas and reason for why this program existed. It’s an idea and mission that I pass on to each of you. Interpret it and shape it, make it your own and grow it to be something that will remind you of the good you can do.”
Smart Futures Lab has always been built on community, our success, and the success of every company we’ve worked with, comes from the collective effort of so many. We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our partners, advisors, mentors, alumni, instructors, and our keynote speakers for helping us close out the 2025 program.
To everyone who has been part of this journey, thank you for believing in what this Lab stands for: championing diversity, innovation, and the power of ideas to shape the future of our communities.
Continue cultivating innovation!
